The Hang Drum, pronounced “hung,” was invented at the turn of this century in Switzerland. Resembling two woks glued together, it has a sound that can be as soft as a kalimba or as vibrant as a steel drum. We’ll hear music for the hang ranging from world fusion to modern jazz, including performances by R. Carlos Nakai, Portico Quartet, Morgan Doctor, Jeff Ball, Dante Bucci and more.
